What is the Internet?

The internet is a worldwide computer network that transmits a variety of data and media across interconnected devices.

The Internet is a global network of linked computer networks that communicate with one another and with devices using the Internet protocol suite. A wide range of electronic, wireless, and optical networking technologies are used to connect private, public, academic, business, and government networks with local to global reach. The World Wide Web (WWW), which is made up of interconnected hypertext documents and applications, as well as electronic mail, phone service, and file sharing, are just a few of the many information resources and services available on the Internet.
